Hello all,

I am avinash residing in Dehradun. I chose this username on my sons suggestion apparently hes a matrix fan :). I am planning to change my old maruti 800 finally after 12 years of driving :). So i needed a bit of help from the experts to guide my search. Sorry if I am posting in the wrong area regarding the matter.
All help will be appreciated.

I want to buy a petrol sedan car. My average daily run is not more than 10-15kms. I will take the car occasionally on the highway(twice or thrice in an year). Please help me chose one of the cars from above based on features like driving comfort, nice spacious and beautiful interiors and good exteriors, ASS, value for money, good mileage. I dont want a high speed racer car. I never drive above 100kmph even on a highway. I just want a comfy family car and most importantly good and easy for driving in the city. Which one of the below or any other not among these suits me perfectly? Are there any niggles with any of these in particular or problems with ASS etc?

Skoda laura

Fiesta global

Maruti Suzuki Sx4

Nissan Sunny

Hyundai Verna

Tata Manza

Thanks,

PS: please help me make a decision fast as I might be able to avail some year end discounts from the dealer.

Thank you all for the replies. I am updating the details as directed by 350Z:

Your Budget: I can pay upto 8 to 8.5L if the car is really good. Cheaper options which would serve my purpose well would do perfect.

Your Location: I am in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. We have all major car dealers here.

Top 5 Priorities:
a) Spacious family car with beautiful interior
b) Good, easy and non-tiring drive for city purpose (I will take to highway only once or twice in an year)
c) Good ASS and low on maintenance.
d) If there are good features worth paying for then it will be great. It should be a value for money investment.

Monthly Running: Monthly running is hardly 300-400kms.

For Which Purpose: A family car. I will drive to work and also which we can use when we go out sometimes. Not much highway running intended right now. (lets say 90% city and 10% highway ride)

Max. Seating Capacity: 5

Priority of Fuel Type: petrol sedan only

Thanks to all again,

Hi morpheus,

Let THE XOVER be direct with you, you want a family sedan at the budget of 8 lac, then no point reading any more blogs or comments, just go and book SuperSedan by Tata,i.e,Manza, just saw an AD on TV that Manza is getting discounts/benifits of worth 60,000, in December. And even barring the money that you save, no sedan can offer you the space,comfort,90 ps engine,VFM like Manza. As far as ASS goes, I am a happy Tata customer for the last 5 tears,no problems faced. So look no further. And yes welcome to the best automotive site there is, i.e.,TAI.[:)]

From your posts, seems that Linea is the perfect choice for you. But it has a poor ASC.

If you want good A.S.S., avoid TATA & FIAT first. So no Manza or Linea...

You have the option of Vento, SX4, Verna & City. If I was in your place, I would pick the Honda City. It is the best petrol sedan. But considering that you would like features also, I think Verna would be a better bet for you.

Laura wont fit in your budget & Skoda is pretty expensive to maintain.

What service stations are available in your city?

Nissan is in the field with great interest , but only after some 5 to 9 years they will be fully fledged in India with manufacturing /exporting plant etc.

Nissan sunny is awesome in space and styling. no idea about service.

Peace of mind for now.

sx4 or fiesta

and then manza. though its refined , it comes next to the two in terms of fit and finish. apart from that all mechanical are fine and never leave you on road. We have a manza for our use !!!

Honda city or Tata Manza Diesel this will fit in your budget. I will suggest you Manza total VFM loaded with all features and king of space and comfort. + you will save money on petrol.

I think we have Maruti (ofcourse), Hyundai, TATA, Volkswagen, Ford, Honda. There are Skoda, Toyota, Nissan, Mahindra dealers so they should have service centers too.

You have the following sedan options available under this budget that are worth considering: New Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, New Ford Fiesta, Nissan Sunny and Fiat Linea. As far as features are concerned, Fiat Linea offers most bang for the buck but Tata-Fiat after sales (sometimes even pre-sales) is a huge letdown and so the resale value. Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento are also nice choices but only their mid variant will fall on-road around the specified budget that lack some of the basic safety features for this price, which I believe are essential to have if spending this much amount. Besides that, Vento is quite infamous for the expensive spares. I have experienced New Ford Fiesta and it's a great car for the self-driven, though overall I find the interiors a bit unexciting, that is exactly opposite to the exterior design. New Honda City is something that you must seriously look at. Although it too has its own set of pros and cons but all in all, it should suffice the requirements of being a safe and well-equipped family sedan with equally good enough driving characteristics. And that’s what you are looking for after all. Isn’t it?
