Hey TAI's

one of my friend is planing to buy used 2005 Used Honda City GXI CVT because he is getting it cheap but we are worrying about its age and spare parts availability and service for 12years old car. Can you please help me here

my questions are:

- how I should pay for this?

- is really spare parts availability is big problem for 2nd gen 2005 city CVT

Why will you pay? Your friend is buying it right? The payment can be made by conventional modes like Cheque, DD or Online Transfer.

Thing is after 3 years it will need a Fitness Certificate and repayment of road tax too. Being a discontinued model, spares availability might not be an issue as such but they would be expensive and your friend might need to wait for them to arrive in some case as well. Better would be to avoid the purchase and look for a good hatchback instead. New Car will add to peace of mind.

Not worth it
- 15 year car rule is pretty stringent off late
- reliability
- availability of parts( GXI is I-DSI not IVTEC as far as I know)
- Costs involved to maintain such an old car etc (tyres, suspension, major components)
- Automatic Transmissions part failure means huuge bills(probably 1-2L afaik)

Why go through this hassle, rather buy used certified i10 AT or Nano AMT if budget is low otherwise you can easily score a 2009 City 3rd gen IVTEC CVT for 4L easily for a well kept model(maybe even lower)
