You see guys. I'm neither a blind fanboy of Tata or any brand, nor a basher of any brand. Whatever I say is my suggestion based on my driving experience or based on the experience of the people I know or based on the online reviews.
So here it is; the best cars under 6 lacs:
1. Tata Tiago
(any well-aware Auto enthusiast would agree) Pros:
a. Really good looks
b. Quality interiors and equipment
c. Really great pricing
d. Segment best dynamics and ride quality
e. Decently powerful engines and slick gearbox. Cons:
a. Not as spacious as the Bolt or Indica
b. Although adequately refined, the pair of engines are not as refined as Hyundai's
c. Waiting period is around 1-2 months and may vary according to dealer priority.
d. Finding the proper Tata dealer is the key. Some dealers are really pathetic at Customer Service
(Quite good discounts on offer) Cons:
a. Really good Diesel engine.
pricing. Next only to the Tiago.
c. Good equipment list and decent interiors.
d. Good dynamics. Cons:
a. A bit boring to look at. The front design is quite shamelessly similar to Aston Martin cars. (Subjective and debatable)
b. A bit unimpressive Petrol engine when compared to the diesel.
c. Ford service and dealership are also similar to Tata's. Find the right dealership and you will be happy.
3. Hyundai Grand i10:
(Only because of the offers) Pros:
a. Looks good even now, although the facelift is just around the corner.
b. Really well built and high quality interior.
c. Good equipment levels on the mid spec onwards.
d. Nice Petrol engine. Impressive refinement on the Petrol as well as Diesel.
c. Hyundai service available almost everywhere. Cons:
a. Underwhelming performance of the Diesel.
b. Strictly a car tuned for city environment. Handling and Ride is unimpressive at speeds above 60kmph.
c. Crash worthiness is questionable.
d. Some Hyundai dealers/service centers tend to cheat customers during car service.
I haven't suggested the Nissan Micra, Chevy Sail, Renault Pulse because they are quite dated and soon to be discountinued/ replaced with a new model.
I haven't suggested the Kwid, Alto, WagonR as they have poor quality of interior and crash worthiness.
I haven't suggested the Maruti Celerio and WagonR as the feel really old, tinny and dated compared to the Tiago.
Hope this solves the chaos up here.
