I do not suggest going for 30 year old model, that too is rusted & in bad shape. if you're planning to mod it, having a strong & shapely donor car is essential.

Thanks for your response.

Yes you are right the car is totally rusted from the corners and i m not gonna mod it but i want to make it an a actual look if the spare parts available in india. otherwise no chance.

Please suggest I'm going in a right way or not.

I have already discussed with 2 mechanics both said me plz don't purchase cause the spare will be the main issue.

under here check the actual condition of M800

spares should be available in most metro cities. esp Bangalore.

but due to Rusty conditions.please keep your family and others safely away from this tattered car.

it's better to look for used wagon-r or alto if you want low budget family use.

If you consider for a complete restoration of this beauty go for it. Else I would suggest you to look for newer cars with a extended budget.

Thanks all,
Actually i love old beauties.......
i am going to purchase my first car and also want india first car will be mine.
But i m also getting Maruti 800 1994 model with CNG fitted kit and good running condition only in 20,000.
so it will be better to go for 1996 model.

so guys whats your opinion.?

If so, keep aside another 50k to bring her back in decent shape and road worthy. I'm repeating, the quote is only to make her a decent, road worthy car. Not a pristine ss80.

Newer the better.
But I would suggest you to look for post 2000 model. They are available for as low as 40k.

From the pictures, it looks like you need a good amount of money to make it decent and usable. Why you need to buy a too old car like this at Rs.20000 and then spent another 40/50000 atleast, instead you can go for a better one may be with the total amount you are going to spend for this oldie...!![confused]

Its worth buying that iconic car but recently MSIL stopped spares for this car. So it is not good idea to buy that car.

Go ahead @Varun, If I got something like your example, (I had one SS80 in the early '90, sold when I moved abroad), I would have done a clean restoration, or something like this.

If you have the passion, and a good mechanic, denter painter, much can be achieved.

All the best.

Points to think about.
1) Restoration,needs a lot of money.
2)Spare parts,not easily available
3)Maintenance,will be costly
4)Can be show piece,not a daily runner.

+100000000000

Having burnt my hands on 3 different cars,
I can assure you that this cannot be a daily runner.

Look for a MPfi 800 (if 5 speed then you are even better) - post 2002 model cars. It is hard to find cars @ less than 1lakh that can sustain 500kms of driving in a month.

When you buy a used car aging more than 10yrs you are about to welcome a whole lot of issues & pain into your life. Stay away from making such mistakes. Scrap value of a M800 is about 12K, what would a 20K car have then? literally nothing!

As a well wisher, I suggest that either spend around 70 - 80k for a mpfi 800 (type 3/2) and avoid all type1 models.

Bumpy rides, rust, frequent carb tuning - type1
type 2 - better ride quality, less noisy, more mileage, less maintenance.

All the best
