I agree Brio has the best engine, but you know Tiago has a lot going in its favor.
I've actually, driven both, and I must say Polo has its own class. But again, you can't really compare the Tiago XZ with Polo mid variant. Polo is really awesome when it comes to build quality, interiors, driveability and safety. But the last time I got a quote from the VM guys, the mid variant packaging does take away a lot from it. And the price difference between Polo mid variant and Tiago XZ Petrol was about 1.4 lakhs OTR in Ludhiana.
But honestly, I've gone for Tiago for its VFM
. And if given a choice amongst premium hatchs, I would go for Polo anytime. Both these cars are that good.
I have driven the previous Brio petrol and the things Brio didnt do well are,low speed torque was very low, it was fine if there is just 2 on board but with 3 or 4, Brio needs good revs to move forward, even Figo 1.2 Rocam which has just 70 HP felt it deliverd torque in 1st gear better.
The other things is despite the power and light weight chassis the good old Indian 84 bhp Swift felt more powerful and efficinent.
Absolutely poor handling post 90 kmph, I know its a Honda but I exlected some dynamic prowess from Honda, even Suzuki Swift felt a tad better handling car than Brio..
The built quality and features were too poor, compared to cars like Figo,Punto,Polo
Peoples false beliefs that Honda is cheap is a complete myth. Actually Hondas are more expensive than Ford,Hyundai,Tata etc to maintain
Eg: Honda City 2014 I Vtec 2nd service costs Rs 7000 while almost all other petrol sedans cost under 4000 Rs. Even Brio has good service costs which is a surprise.
Regarding Polo, there is no comparison Polo is far better car than Tiago, but its that much expensive to buy and maintain as well, Tiago is a good competitor to Eon,Celerio,Kwid, etc and yet it has the ability to challenge bigger rivals like Grand i10,Figo,Swift,Brio,Micra,..
I think Tiago is the best hatch back money can buy between 4-6 lakhs on road
For 6-8 lakhs on road its Figo
For 7-10 lakhs its elite i20 or Polo or Jazz
