Hello All.
I'm Ajay from Hyderabad, India. I'm planning to buy a new car (my first car).
Actually, started the search 2 months back for an used car within 2.5 Lakhs rupees. Since I'm new to cars, Couldn't finalize any used car.
I came to know about a program that my company offers, i.e. company leased vehicle through a third party vendor. Then I moved to a new car search, with a monthly EMI of around 20000 INR for a period of 3 years. (These EMIs will be deducted from my taxable income and zero down payment. That's why I decided to go for a new car.)
I almost finalized on WagonR VXI (for a total on road price of around 5L). Then my friends threw me the option of New Baleno. I went to 3 Nexa showrooms in Hyderabad. I liked the looks and security features that are offered by Baleno Delta version. Today morning I learnt that WagonR is launched with AMT and optional airbags and ABS. I'm confused a lot now.
What are we looking for in the car:
Good leg room and comfortable ingress and egress. Good boot space.
Good road view from driver cabin (since every one in my family is new to driving. we all are above 5'7" height)
Me, My wife and my brother-in-law may be driving the car
My wife wants music system as a must. (If I take Baleno Sigma, the base version, and opt for a good music system from after market, will it void the warranty?)
My brother-in-law suggests safety features a must (ABS and airbags).
My usage will be minimal. Daily 25-30 KM within Hyderabad. All family members live in Hyderabad. So very rare outstation travels (though I don't rule out possibility of once or twice a year, a 400KM one way kind of journeys). How important are ABS and airbags for within Hyderabad city driving for daily commutation between office and home. (I can avoid the long drives and look for other transport options for long journeys)
Good suspension for uneven and bumpy roads. I couldn't get the test drives on bumpy roads for both the vehicles. But I will have to travel on damaged roads for about 8KM for my daily transaport.
Good AC.
Low maintenance.
Comfortable/Decent room for 5 in the car.
I get WagonR VXI for a monthly EMI of 15500 for 3 years (remember zero down payment) and 13500 for 4 years tenure. I do not have quotation for Baleno yet. My relationship manager is on leave till 12th. So I got two more days to think through this. As per my calculations, If I go for Baleno Delta version, whose on road price is around 7L, it will cost me 20000 EMI per month for a period of 4 years and may be around 23000 for 3 years tenure.
What caused me confusion:
Definitely the increase in EMI from 15500 to 23000.
Do I need ABS and Airbags for city driving. Since we are new drivers, none of us may think driving beyond 70KMPH.
If I want airbags and ABS, can I go for Baleno basic version and get music system as an accessory? Does Suzuki provide that? Or I need to go after market. Will that void the warranty?
Friends always suggest 'go to latest model'.
In Some forums, people are doubting the structural strength of Baleno. What can be the effect of normal dents/minor accidents on this new Baleno?
People are complaining about the under thigh support of rear seat in Baleno. What kind of effect will it create for rear seat passengers?
Baleno waiting period may be upto 45 days. My relationship manager is promising under 45 days. But i doubt. And I need car early. WagonR ready to be delivered.
Lot of questions for a newbie to answer and get clarity before buying a new car. : Please help me...
Am I open for new options? May be yes, as long as that fits into the above needs and do not cause further confusion or stretch my EMI limits.
