I beg to differ, but more then brand value, it's ask about the features on offer that makes customers wow. Take Polo for example, it is week built, has good set of engines, rides & handle well but it is seeking just 2500 units/month compared to 10-12000 ubits / month of i20. Now some week say that Hyundai maintenance cost is less, but if you compare the bills of both these cars post owning them, you'll be amazed & shocked to see that Hyundai charging higher labour costs compared to almost nil on VW. So its a tie here. After owning cars of different brands & having different brand cars in the garage currently, I'll safely & confidently conclude that Hyundai & Maruti are not cheap to service at the "Authorized Service Station".
I have i20 & its good in terms of design, features, after sales service, performance (diesel) in other departments it's behind other cars. Design & Features are what Indians like the most & hence you see that i20, Swift are the best selling ones in the country.
