Sorry for such lengthy post but, I am in plan to buy a car for taxi purpose (Uber/Ola) to drive here in Pimpri-Chinchwad & Pune. Had lot of conversation with drivers & owners associated with it & got recommendation "Go ahead only if you want to drive it on your own. If not, driver is to be given to drive the car, let him only drive & opt for higher package to compensate the losses if any."
Initially my family members and my father's so called well wisher friends, except my wife (who is in strong support & business minded too
)were opposed me saying that, "Its not your field, you were only be treated as driver & there is no respect for driver, you need be familiar with slung language when you are steering, etc." Unfortunately all true, yet I am being fade up with job thing & always being business minded since startup of my carrier, decided to go for it. Did some basic things like, Gumasta (Shop Act) Licence, Filled ITR for last two years, got business details for Uber & one part infornation of Ola from Ola itself (Ola person did not reveal much & seems to be much interested since start as compared to Uber). Now coming to the point. Budget:
Maximum 5.5lakh Preferred Mode:
On maximum finance possible. (Running pretty about nill on savings, as all my savings got used sicnce last year on unavoidable circumstances) Used or New Car:
Open to both option. For old car must not be older than of last three years as per company policy. Fuel:
Diesel or CNG as run will be mostly in city. Model:
Indica V2, Ritz, Eeco Monthly Running:
approx 5200km or can be more Purpose of Use:
Majority is for Taxi purpose & sometimes for personal.
After considering above did some study about the same & it seems to be profitable to run in city than on long route hence sedan is least considered.
About cars: 1. Datsun Go
but cancelled it as, it did not have all power windows, power mirror, music system, available only on petrol, after sales service & availability of spares, central locking is mannual & obvious safety concern as it failed to pass the same. Even my wife also concerned about same as read lot of negative & horrible reviews about it than of MS. 2. Wagon R:
First preference was given to it, as lot of positive responses & allowed for taxi. Hence visited local oldest popular dealer (Wonder Cars) & had worst ever experience. No one have time to look customers even though customers were waiting (inspite its third week)
. Approched to reception as all SA were having chit chat there & one was ready to speak. I asked him about Wagon R CNG and he seems to be happy. While waiting asked me if to have tea/coffee which later confirmed that coffee is not available tea will be served which never arrived. Meanwhile went to bring water bottle as I was sweating bad (thanks to hot May days & City bus preferred as road work in going on). While having water he asked about the purpose to which I responded for taxing. With the answer he seems to be unhappy and told me that, now Wagon R is not for taxi purpose as PCMC RTO have stopped to register it for same. Hence asked about Alto K10 as have seen it in Taxi segment, for which he again refused & asked me any other model I am considering. For time being I asked for Dzire Tour which he again suggested not to consider saying that, it is discontinued and not at all available (?) & suggest me Ritz LDI & Eeco CNG but said that, consider Eeco only if for company & Ritz for Ola/Uber. First he start mentioning that, how inferior is Tata and all other & how superior MS is then, he seems to be interested only in Ritz & rather than moreover to sell finance as I want it on finance, again to which his attitude was like, Its only me who is doing favour by selling you car by making you eligible for finance. Also mentioned that, no RTO formalities including registration, permit, tax will be done & finance will be only on Ex-showroom if possible will try to get it on Ex-showroom + Insurance (really high). Upon asking for TD to my surprise he straight away refused by saying none is available though while entering in showroom seen Ritz & Dzire demo cars. Okay now asked, if I can see similar car if available? "No, we don't have the same on display as these are available only on order". By this time I was furious but still asked patiently for brochure to which again showed as searching for same & said no not available & if you want download it from site handover me whole price list & insist me to pay 10000/- Rs. as booking to which I count upto 10 in my mind & firmly told him that, "I am considering to have it in month or later, so let me first discuss & study at home then only I will book the car be there any long waiting period." Left showroom by making him feel soar (little revenge). Searched over the net for reviews about dealership & felt like got saved as 90% reviews mentioning pathetic service about the same & its SA. Enquired to Chowgule Industries through website, got call on next day & got assured to receive all inclusive quotation with breakup in second half which I didn't received till date. After few days called SA at Wonder Car just to clear some doubt & first there was no response but later got same annoying reply to which I lost my control & why shall I buy car if you are doing only half things. After 10 days got call from Chowgule Industries asking for decision. In surprise I told him that how they can ask me about decision without giving quotation & told him that got better response from TATA Motors & now big no to MS hereafter. Same reply was given to Wonder Cars month after with earful to him. So no new or old car from Maruti showroom. Indica V2 LX:
Inquired online, got call by second half confiming about nearest preferred showroom. Selected Concorde Balewadi, meanwhile got estimated from site. Next day got SMS from TM (Tata Motors) details of SA & expected call time 10am. Didn't got call & lest bothered as heard lot of about TM how much non-professional they are. To my surprise got between 11:30 to 12:30pm window as was in drive asked him will give call back (don't prefer to speak while driving). By 2pm gave him call & instead he reject call & did call back, asked my priorities & suggested to go for Indica eV2 Cr4 LX model as it is all inclusive package, less on maintenance with better FE (mentioned not less than 20kmpl with AC always on in city) than V2 (16kmpl with AC in city), also mentioned that vehicle will only be delivered after completing all RTO formalities including installation of reflective tapes and number plates as per rule inclusive of 5years All India Permit & asked if he can send quotation on WhatsApp which I got within 30min. Surprised with such quick & professional reply though got quotation from other branch than closer one also, he told me that, apart from this if I required any help in legal things he is ready to help out. Just one thing which he insisted in finance to go for home loan instead collateral vehicle loan as EMI & interest will be lesser is hard to digest even I have ITR and not clever thing to risk residing home for 6lakh worth of car. Hence still struggling for DP (1.2lakhs). Meanwhile one owner (had Honda City) plying with Uber told me if I am considering Indica then do not invest much in first car. Straight away go for it but, V2 version as wide availability of spares at local garage, almost negligible maintenance and take abuse till its extend, earn hefty profit then exchange or sold it at cheap & buy newer one but, not Honda, GM or VW etc. Toyota can be considered but only on cash purchase avoid finance. 3. Etios/Liva:
Met one owner, said good car but initial high ownership cost. Highest EMI need to be paid, doing more than 14 trips a day (12-14hrs a day) then only manages to pay EMI & get some profit compared to TM & MS (Same profit after EMI with 12 trips max 12 hrs a day). 4. Ritz :
Always loved its luxurious comfort but again only AC & basic things & arrogant SA & dealership. 5. Eeco:
Have company fitted CNG with AC+Heater and large boot for long journey. But then again MS attitude.
In between come to know about Uber + TM scheme to own Indica or Indigo at 30000/- & 40000/- Rs. respectively in Pune. Does its still on? When inquired by my friend he was tod EMI between 16000/- to 22000/- Rs. on house (who does not have ITR). Even tried with showroom at Balewadi but, they try to boycott the topic mentioning higher DP with lesser EMI at almost same interest but insists on home loan than Tata Vehicle Finance. I dont know wether still 30000/- to 40000/- DP scheme is there as unable to dugout about it.
Also I am open to any (Other than Omni) used MS car which can be converted to T permit. Can Alto k10, Wagon R be used as taxi in Pune or shall I stick to Indica V2 Lx for all inclusive package? Or any other car is recommended.
