Pre owned or brand new is good for my usage

Budget is 5lac to 5.5lac for brand new car for city driving

If preowned up to 3lac to 3.5 lac

Incase brand new i will go for hatch

If preowned i will go for sedan

Requirements

Better mileage and low maintenance

Should i go for petrol or diesel

Leg room should be spacious

Boot space is not that much required

No of occupants: 03-05

Monthly usage less than 500 kms

Mostly 1500 km(up and down) long trip once in 12months

My fav cars are swift /dzire/ amaze

Re: Pre owned or brand new is good

As per your requirements I would suggest you to go for a Petrol Sedan.
Definitely you can get a 2012/13 Dezire Petrol, pre owned for that money.May be a 2011/12 Honda City too. When buying a pre owned car follow some strict checking. Forum have some rules listed.Go through it.

And for how long you would like to keep this car?

Go for a brand new if you would like to keep it for a 5-10 years of period and for a pre owned if you plan to sell it off within 2-5 years.

I would say go for pre-owned petrol sedan. You should get Honda city/ Swift dezire in your budget. Buying (good) pre-owned car is little bit difficult and time consuming task. So do your research before buying pre-owned car.

If you monthly ODO is going to tick very low then petrol head is best option. If its your first car then I would suggest to buy Hyundai or MarutiSuzuki or Tata is a brand to go for.

If you are willing to have a brand new car then there other gates open. Nissan, Renault, Ford etc. can be in your list.

In case of Used car, MS Swift/Ritz/Dzire, Hyundai i10/i20, Tata Indigo eCS/CS would be a better choice. Appart from that Ford Figo, Fiat Punto, Renault Pulse, Nissan Micra may be available for you in the market, if you are lucky. [:)]
