| | Re: New Car: Honda Brio or Maruti Ritz?
On the delivery day, the rattle was on even in idle. When I parked for the night, I took anything out that could rattle to check it. Then I went underneath the car with a torch and noted that the rattle was coming from below the car, approximately where the exhaust header takes a bend to go around the fuel tank. Since the frequency of the rattle was the same as the engine, I presumed the exhaust pipe header was rubbing against the body work. The showroom executive is now more of a friend, so I immediately called him and held the phone so he could hear the rattle. He asked me to come over the next day to sort it out
I took it back to the showroom on Wednesday. Interestingly, the idle rattle was gone on this day but it did rattle when I accelrated, even gently. The initial reply was to blame the toolkit- that wasnt the case as the toolkit was at home. Turned out the rattle is coming from the RHS rear of the car, not sure whether it is what I had presumed originally. They checked if any part was loose and confirmed that nothing was. So eventually they agreed that something was rattling and needed to be fixed. Being Diwali, staff was short, so they asked to come on Monday. I am going to personally take it there on Monday rather than give it to my driver so as to ensure they fix it. I am sure its just a strap loose or something like that. Also, just noticed the trim on the rear door pillar is not mated with another on the pillar properly, so will ask them to check it as well. Its a Maruti, not a BMW, so these minor teething issues will be there. I am sure they will fix it, especially, since I reported immediately and it was a 2 year + 2 year warranty they need to honour
