Since the car will most likely be driven personally rather than by a driver, it should be user friendly, which is why the Xylo has been ruled out.
I know it's a bit of a specific list, but I'm sure nobody can help me better than TAI
At least 7 seats:- Scorpio, Safari, XUV500, Force one, Sumo, Innova
Cost around 16 lakhs:- all above
Mainly for use in Delhi, occasional long distance journey:- use anywhere city or highway
Must have decent boot space even with 7 passengers:- difficult to find such a vehicle in India, all above with seven passengers will allow only 2-3 briefcase(not suitcases)or bags, you have to add extra luggage on top (rooftop). Otherwise look at Tata Winger.
Acceptable fuel economy in the city:- 10-12kmpl range of the above mentioned vehicles.
Comfortable suspension:- In top order- Innova, XUV500, Safari, Force One, Scorpio and Sumo
Spacious (one of the future passengers has mild claustrophobia):- can test drive all the above and decide.
Reliable (obviously) All mentioned are proven, rest depends on the way you drive and maintain the car.
Reasonable maintenance rates:- cheapest is Sumo and costliest is Innova in showroom price as well as spares and service.
Good resale value (Not a top priority):- If the new act of only 15years registration gets active in Delhi, then its simply use and think later situation.
