When Duster/Terrano can be compared to Scorpio/Safari, there is nothing wrong in comparing Aventura with Duster, etc.
Types of SUV's in India:-
Crossovers:- Ex. Toyota Etios Cross, Ford Ecosport, etc. In this class hatchback cars are fitted with a blown up body, tyre size upgrade, a few parts like bumpers given a rugged shape, spare wheel sometimes fitted on tail gate, primarily made to look like a suv. Seating for 4 is comfortable while an extra person may feel the pain fitting in. Looking at these vehicles, reminds me of my school concert days where a 10 Year old kid dresses up with a fake big moustache to look like big daddy.
SUV look alikes:- Ex. Duster, Terrano, etc. In this class manufacturers design a vehicle keeping the manufacturing costs low but with a good fuel average figures, primarily targeting regular city users with an occasional highway use who feel they are driving an Suv. 5 seater.
Entry level SUV's:- Scorpio, Safari, etc. Body on ladder frame, spacious 7 seater, 2 plus litre engines, ideal for off roading.
Pricey SUV's:- Ex. Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero, Isuzu MU7, etc. Better fit and finish and added luxury than previous class.
SUV:- Mahindra Thar, Jeep Wrangler, etc. You have to drive these off terrain to understand the true meaning of SPORTs UTILITY VEHICLEs.
