Yes, I have test driven both ritz and grand back to back.
Gear is smoother in grand, steering is very very light...!!
But, somewhere I feel pickup and engine responsiveness in Ritz is better.
Come to mileage... By reading many user reviews we can say that Grand delivers 12+ in city and Ritz 14+ in city. Thats a big difference according to me. Further speaking to get 12+ in grand we have to handle it like a delicate baby, i.e. In very specific manner. And in Ritz you should not bother much about driving style ( obviously sane driving is required but not like hyundai 1-2 small miatake in gear shifting, clutch pressing.. And mileage dropped to 10-11...). PLEASE CORRECT IF I AM WRONG.
Please note my car will not only driven by me. My father, sister and wife... All will drive the car (truly family car ). So it will not being used single handedly.
I really cannot comment on the mileage part. The car is very new and there aren't many ownership reviews of the car to know about the mileage.
But I can definitely comment on previous i10 which had the same petrol engine. The mileage was pathetic.I have friends claiming as low as 8kmpl from such a small car and that is a big negative. The friend whom's grande i10 I drove yesterday had a i10 1.2 kappa before purchasing this car.The car gave him less than 10kmpl inits entire life of 3 years. He exchanged the car after completing 27k with grande i10 diesel.Poor FE was a major reason for the change.
On the other hand I am getting 15kmpl in city without AC in my ritz. The lowest I recorded till now is 13.5kmpl and highest 16.5.All in city driving of 7500kms.
So if FE is a concern go for the VVT swift/ritz definitely.
One more thing,if FE is a concern than I am sure cost of maintenance and cost of spares/accessories will also be important to you.In this factor maruti wins hands down.It is very cheap/easy to customize a maruti compared to any other car.The accessories are available outside at lower rates and are a great fit because they are made specifically for maruti.Warranty is also never a issue.
To give you a picture.I have customized my ritz to my taste at very reasonable prices.
Ritz LXi which as you know comes with just AC and power steering.
1-I have fitted front PW for 6500/- which looks just as OEM
as you can see in my thread.
2-Have fitted autocop CL for 3100/-.This CL model comes only for maruti and is plug and play without any wire cutting.
3-I was able to get 4 wheelcovers for 600/- and side beading for 450/- only.
4-When I installed roots horns It was again plug and play in maruti whereas the same installation in my Honda city required wire splicing due to different socket sizing.
5-I am also soon sourcing OEM
ritz stereo with 4 speakers for around rs 4000.Hope it works
6-If time permits will also add a tacho for rs 1500/-
All this makes the car exactly to my taste at cheap rates and without voiding warranty. This is not possible in hyundai or any other brand.
Just wanted to share an advantage of maruti which ppl arent aware of.
