Hi all,
Need your advice as I am looking for a new car within below said budget.

For additional information, I don't have much of experience in driving , though I have driven Maruti Suzuki Estilo quite a few times.
And will be taking driving lessons . My company is giving me a loan of Rs.4 lakhs on a negligible interest, rest I will be managing. Below are some f the details :

Budget: 5.5 lakh for petrol , (can go upto 7Lakhs for diesel variant if it is worth)

> New or Used: New

> Your Location: Surat, Gujarat

> Top Five Priorities: comfort, safety, fuel efficiency, low maintenance and last but not the least looks.

> Running: once/twice in a week only intercity travelling that makes about 1200- 1500 kms/month

> Type of Fuel: petrol/diesel

> For What Purpose: official tours and visits. Mostly would be driving alone or at the max with a colleague.

> Seating Capacity: not an issue.

I've listed down a few choices i.e. Brio, Swift, Figo . Don't want to go for Fiat, or Chevy. As already mentioned I will be mostly driving on the highways. I was also interested in Honda Amaze diesel variant , but I am not sure whether this extra cost can be recovered or not. Please suggest a suitable car for me with the variant. Thanks in advance.

For the kind of running you have mentioned, I feel a Diesel heart should be considered. If seating capacity is not an issue, then I would surely recommend you Swift. But be informed, the rear seating is highly disappointing especially for taller people. If you dont mind boring interiors, then Etios Liva too is a strong contender for your requirements. The engine is no doubt an excellent piece of machine and space is never an issue in the Liva.

From the list of your shortlisted cars, it should be Swift if it is diesel and Brio, if you are inclined to buy a petrol.

Thanks Akash.. swift vdi"s OTR price is 7L here, didn't enquire about toyota liva diesel, but hoping the same price range for it too. Honda Brio s(o)mt will cost me 5.7. Is it wise to spend 1.5 L bucks on diesel version. What advantage do diesel engine offer except low running cost ?
