Hello crazydriver, welcome to TheAutomotiveIndia.com,

Given your budget and monthly running average along with the ownership period, you can safely go with the diesel hatch to nullify the costs incurred at the final stages of selling.

Uh, please mention if the budget only fixed for 6 lakhs? Because in the price range you get little options in diesel (only Vista,Beat, figo) and Ritz come in this category.

Top Five Priorities: Style, Power, Safety, Comfort and preferably car with good re-sale value after 4 years :)
Please do filter the most needed aspect as different cars offered in the market has different aspects according to their budgets,

I strongly suggest you buy the swift which ticks most of the boxes you mentioned and you are ready to compromise on the comfort(only in the back-seat and quite uncomfortable for 3 members).

For Sedans, well i think you have stretch your budget of 1.5 lakhs for Amaze or a weird suggestion would be for the newly released Indigo eCS.

Looking at your monthly running i would recommend you a diesel.

So the options at the given budget are:
1. Ford Figo
2. Maruti Swift
3. Nissan Micra
4. Hyundai I20
4. Polo

All these cars are proven and great buy as well. What i would suggest you is go ahead and take a TD of these vehicles or whichever you like so that you can have an idea.

With you running distance Diesel will be the best suited fuel for you.

First you need to prioritize the requirement.
If you need safety and comfort then Figo ,I20 will be better option.
If you need good resale value Swift will be better option.
If you need style then Polo will be good.
If power is needed then Swift and Micra will be good.

IMO Figo(D) is really VFM on the current segment.
As suggested have TD of all the car and then short list the car to choose from.

These prices are not of Bangalore, the prices of these cars in Bangalore is higher ; for ex, the price of Swift VDI is 7.30 lakhs OTR! which is why i suggested him the entry level hatches given his budget.

I think Figo suits your requirement pretty well. Frugal diesel engine with exceptional mileage, decent looking, can seat 5 in comfort, easy to maintain and most importantly within your budget. Here is a pic of a nicely modded Figo I saw on Facebook if styling is an important factor for you. Haven't done much, but the appeal of the car has been increased immensely with the few subtle touches.
