I TDed Figo and Punto last weekend. I liked both the cars.
Figo - Titanium Diesel
Good seating position. Steering is straight up and big enough for me. It also has a good grip. The acceleration was good in all gears, didn't quite feel any lag. the turning radius is good enough. The test drive was not on bumpy roads, so couldn't determine the suspension.
Interior though is not great, but ok. I'm a fan of dark colored interiors and not the premium beige. The hint of blue on the dash was not of my likes, but was not disturbing either. I took the test drive as around 12 noon. 4 persons in the car and the A/C effect was not good even for driver seat. The cabin was a bit noisy (compared to Punto).
Punto - Emotion Diesel
Spot on seating position. Steering is straight up and similar size to Figo. I felt very comfortable till the end of TD. The drive included speed breakers and bumpy road too. Suspension is really good. I felt the lumbar support to be better in Punto than Figo. No lag experienced in this also. The turning radius is good.
The clutch was super light. That made me struggle a bit at the start of TD. I had to bring the gear down to one in a couple of speed breakers. I asked the sales person about the clutch after the TD. She said there is no half-clutch in Punto. You always have to go for full clutch press and this a safety feature. Sure, it will take time to get used to it.
Interior is good though the center console looks a bit outdated. I really liked the 4 dial driving console. As I wished, it had the dark interiors and seats. The A/C was really good and chilled faster (around 2 PM).
Both have good boot space, but the rear seat was not having that much space.
Brio - Some observations.
The reason I took the TD of Brio was that the Height and Width of the Brio and Liva were pretty close. Brio's seatign position was really comfortable. There was atleast more than 2 inches of space between my head top and brio top. The problem though was the steering position. The bottom of the wheel hit my thighs. When I asked the Sales person, he said the top end comes with the tilt steering which goes down. I actually want it a bit up. Other than this Brio is a peppy car.
After quite a bit of thinking, finally
I have booked Fiat Punto (white). I will provide the price details, one I get the invoice this week.
Thank you all for your inputs.
