Only go for 2012 model if it is of Nov/Dec manufacture. Then too, do a proper PDI before confirming. I would have concerns if it was older than that.
Generally if it was the middle of the year, getting a month old car is generally the norm. Also if you are buying for personal use and would keep it for 4-5 years, then resale and year of regn is not an issue.
In my case, I think that I got a very good deal. It was the top model and the color I wanted. Its a driver's car and quite at home in the city and planted on the highways. The car has a facelift recently in Sep'12 so chances of another facelift or discontinuance is low. Most of the issues that were present in the earlier version has been rectified. It was under budget, so spend a part of the saving getting a 5 year Ford SSP plan. So periodic maintenance costs are also taken care. In short it ticked all my requirement boxes. Also it has been driven about 300 kms in the last 1 week and crossed a few craters large bumps. No scraping yet, so probably GC issue has been solved to some extent.
Do your research and then decide. What worked for me might not work with you.
