Re: Advice to buy a new car below 7 lakhs

Hi All,

I am planning to buy a car below 7 lakhs nearing future.

Looking for Hatchback diesel cars.
1. Mileage(Per day travell will be around 90 kms)
Beat 1.0 India's most fuel efficient diesel, certified by ARAI
2. Safety
All cars come with ABS and 2 Airbags, so equal
3. Comfort
Beat will be the worst, figo and micra are kind of equal, and swift wins, because its from a segment higher.

Figo, with above 6ft height, would get a lill uncomfortable with its low ride and GC, also rear seats bench yes its spacious but try and sit once you adjust your seating positions with low seating benches, thats my experience else its a superb car with good torque to drive with.
Swift still rules with one of the best driving experience with superbly mated gearbox from maruti in fiat's heart, spin in round the corners and you'll knw what am i talking about, its fun to drive car without doubt, but seating 5 comfortable is a question here along with long long waitlist in their diesel variants.
You can also look at Hyundai i20 diesel, its a superb car with good diesel heart, improved low end torque with features loaded with wide network spread along with maruti.
I somehow never liked toyota etios sisters, liva or sedan, but have heard its superb drivebility with superb space inside the cabin, have a TD and look at it.
Tata launched their new vista90, with manza's engine and dashboard in its practical place, you can have a look at this car as well.

Micra is a good car with superb diesel engine, superb low end torque to make it funfilled driving within city but i felt it cramped front and rear for my likings, plus was tight fit for 3 passengers at the rear, highway havent driven it yet but a friend who ones it says is okay for highway, let other members who might have driven it extensively would pour in about this car.

Hi
By your needs i will opt for
1. Punto/Swift/Chevy Sail
2. Ford Figo
3. Vista
Compared to Micra you will get more power+ more refinement + more torque + high speed manners in both Punto, swift and chevy. But Punto is a good highway cruiser with its high speed manners. If punto go for dynamic where you will get ABS. heard good reviews about After sale servces in chennai. Fiat dedicated show room is RDC motors

If back bencher(person seating behind you) are also tall (6 f) then vista , sail will do justice followed by punto , but if back back benchers are of average height , then punto is a fun to drive along with improved GC.
