| if he is a good installer, he should give you a demo.
i would also repeat what i wrote in the other thread: Quote:
dont get too involved in the specs & exact prices. they vary like anything. ultimately, its the sound that the product delivers that matters. in comps or sub, dont look at the max RMS/power values always. they matter when you play the music at full blast, that is, 90-100% of the max volume. how often would you do that? if you do that often, in any case, you would blow up your sub or comps soon!
i was getting 100W RMS Ground Zero comps for the same price of a 70W RMS Illusions electras. i opted for the illusions & believe me, i am very happy. i feel GZ comps is no match for it.
| at normal volume, both the JBL as well as the sony will be equally loud. JBL will sound sweeter IMO. only at full blast which by the way is not recommended, sony will have an edge.
but anyways, do a back to back comparo by asking for a demo & judge yourself.
if i was in your place, instead of investing more money in a new sub, i would have gone for new/better comps & better wiring. |

the function of a capacitor is different. It is useful when there are two powerful subs in your car. When these subs pump, they take up a lot of power. The capacitor stores some power for these subs so that they never miss a beat. You should not think about adding a capacitor unless you get the essentials first.
if you have money for the cap, think about investing that money in a better HU or better wiring than adding a capacitor. Quote:

You can also go for a complete wiring kit like this one- Hermit Audio Pvt. Ltd.
this one consists of "8 Gauge Amp wiring kit, 5m RCA, 5m Speaker Cable, 60A AGU Fuseholder, Other accessories" & costs about 3k. |

agree with you raj my first upgrade is a new HU for sure, but i am talking about my furtur upgrades, look if i add another amp for 2nd sub or rear speaker i have to go for a 3Rca HU,which cost me 3k more then 2Rca so its like 3Rca HU 3k(+) + 2Ch amp 3k(+) + capacitor not sure but i guess 5k(+) +wiring (minimum .5k to 2k+)=11.5k minimum so if this is what i have to pay for adding another amp then i am very happy with my single 4Ch amp.dont want to go for another amp.

i want to buy a new HU asap.

| 0 guage is the best & the costliest. the more you increase the number, the thickness of the wire decreases along with the price.
so 0 is better than 4 is better than 6 is better than 8. |

so 0 is better than 4 is better than 6 is better than 8. | 0 4 are used for high end system
for your basic kinda set up , 8 is enough.
we have installed a car with -2 , so far the costliest! |

Capacitors are generally used with 2 high end subs which draw a low of power, unlike the basic subs. Quote:

| not really sure of the individual price, i bought as a kit.
Also, 6 AWG or 8AWG are just the power cables. The speaker cables would be 16 or 18 AWG.
in my car, i have scosche RCA cables, 6 AWG Earthquake power cables & 16 AWG speaker wires. I'll post a pic for you if i can.
@ ilango: i have not heard of -2 Guage till now.

| i dont think speakers come with wires. you will have to buy wires separately.
Attached pics of my Earthquake wiring. First one is Power cable while second is speaker wires. |
