hey this is a thread for the upgrades on the audio part on my i20 crdi sportz purchased on november 11th 2011

ive always been a person who would give up exterior modifications just so as i

can have the best audio equipment in my car to my budget and liking

ill be posting pictures in a day or two

as on now my car has a pioneer avh 8490 bt touch screen head unit

2 sets of components

front focal performance 165 v30 series

and the rear running focal polyglass 165 vb

being powered by a focal solid 4 amplifier

also an infinity sub woofer the 1264w model in a custom top vented enclosure

running of a mbquart mono 1000.1d amplifier

ive used this setup for almost 16months

and wanted to upgrade the speakers

which will happen tomorrow @ my friends accessory shop

my doors and boot lid have already been filled with dynamat

and yes it makes a hell of a difference

dont believe me ask topgun from our forum

he did the same to his fluidic verna after hearing the difference in my car

next step of upgrade focal krx2 components in the front and

the focal kr components in the rear door

will update with pics once the work is done in the next few days

[cheers]

A bit confused? Are you using Focal polyglass VB 165 components in rear?

Wow and you will be powering them with Focal Solid 4 amplifier? Doesn't the components needs much more power than what Solid 4 can manage?

as per my knowledge the krx2 is 100w rms @ 2ohms

and the solid 4 amplifier also has stable power of 100w rms @ 2ohms

where as the performance 165 v 30 is 80w rms @ 4 ohms

and the amp gives 75 w rms

so it should support it if not will upgrade @ a later stage

In case you are looking for an amplifier with 100w RMS the you can try DD Audio C5C which now costs 15k. I have heard they might increase the price to 20k soon[frustration].

Sounds good as upgrading an amp is very costly and also second hand amps won't sell for much. So unless you really need more powerful amp only then one needs to upgrade. Hope i am right[;)]

all this Focal - solidglass - etc is Latin to me...... Pardon my ignorance, but i need your help

i have a i20(2011) 1.2 magna. the front and rear speakers are really really good..... (by my standards [;)])

will changing the speakers to JBL make any difference? i use media from the net and other various sources stored on my 8gb thumbdrive.

i do not want any fancy amp/preamp/booster etc. stuff

thanks in advance

hey hdesai

yes changing the company speakers to another branded ones will make a difference

maybe marginal but it will

you have to remember that your front speakers are a component set i.e speaker separate and tweeter separate

and the rear is a coaxial where the tweeter is part of the speaker itself

so take the same setup and it will sound much better than the company setup
