Hey TAIgers,

I am planning to buy new bike within a week. Few thing are very clear in my mind that, I am not going to extend the budget above Rs. 95000. [Coz it will give a big scratch on my pocket].

My requirement are

- daily commutation is about 60 kms in CITY.
- looking for occasional highway ride
- budget Rs. 95000
- I am married, so according to INDIAN COSTUME wife wears saree many a times. So the WOMEN TYPICAL INDIAN SEATING STYLE should be an ease. [lol]
- must be comfortable, I am 5'7".
- FE is not a big worry [40kmpl is OK for me]

Few I have shortlisted;

- TVS Apache 180 ABS
- Yamaha FZ16
- Honda CB Trigger
- Bajaj Pulsar 180
- Bajaj Avenger

Still you can suggest your opinion. [:)]

Unicorn is not my list as for few things,
- aesthetic is not that appealing
- less wider tyres, instead CB Trigger is better I think.
- vibration insulation is not done properly [I have tested on 4 different age Unicorn].

These are my opinion;

TVS Apache 180ABS
+ ABS system
+ 180 CC engine
+ looks good
- seating posture gives a little stress on palms on long drives
- engine smoothness looses over a period of time.

Yamaha FZ16
+ wider tyres
+ wider seat
+ comfortable for Solo
+ new FZ has wide pillion seat
- less FE
- 150 cc only

Honda CB Trigger
+ wider tyres
+ wider seat
+ comfortable for both
- front aesthetic is not that appealing
- 150 cc only

Bajaj is out of my list now due its heavy maintenance. I have Pulsar150 CC and Pulsar150 CC DTSi.

I am not sure exactly about the model but yamaha have one 150CC bike which gives you good power, mileage as well as seating comfort what unicorn used to give.
Maybe other members can pour in, have a look at that bike if it fulfills your needs.

Why you are not considering Hero bikes?(Extreme & Hunk)

Wider tires means less fuel efficiany and less tire life in this segment .

The new extreme comes with 110/90-18 tires and i feel it is more than enough on indian roads.

you should finalise on which segment (commuter/cruiser/sports) you have to look in as per your requirement. The bikes you mentioned comes in different catagory and different behaviour though all comes under 150-200 cc catagory.

I think Yamaha 'SZ' is the bike you mentioned. It is not a comfortable/smooth bike especially above 60 km/hr. Though it has FZ's engine Yamaha made it worst bike in the segment by changine the tuning and gear ratio.

What about going for a Bullet Electra 350?

My dad owns one and it is really a good bike for doubles!

I second this point since the new bullet comes with a new gear shift they are smooth and riding in pune traffic is not a big problem.

also comfort is awesome which will surely help you alot on long rides

FE is 40 (Yahamaha FZ gives 30 in city traffic so be cautious )

Height of the bike is normal ( For a lady wearing saree and sitting on a FZ can be a tough job).

I know you will spend more money for bullet but again bullet has good resale value for whenever you will sell the bike you will get fair money.

Is it a must you have to get it in a week ? If you could wait till festive season there will be more options I think .
Else go for 1. TVS Apache 180ABS
. 2. Yamaha FZ16
No vote for bullet from my side sorry guys [;)]

Dear Guys,

I got this idea : why not create a poll on this thread to make the OP's choice of buying easier?

@Releesh,
Currently I am having Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme, but I am not comfortable with the front seat. Also the vehicle is quite tall for back seat making uneasy for a lady to climb.

RE pricing is little over budget for me. Also I am not a fan of so called CANNON sound which RE bike makes. But still if I could have budget then RE Café Racer would be my choice. I have tested Café Racer for more than 50 kms, I love to ride it. [:)]

@konkantrip,
I have checked with Apache, FZ, CB Trigger all seems better than Xtreme & Hunk.

@maximas007,
I can wait till next month end. According to my finding only Suzuki Gixer is about to launch.

@amitpshelke, I don't think so Cafe Racer is available in your budget area.

If it is, then blindly go for it because it is the lightweight royal enfield ever!

Thanks,

Back seat comfort ! if xtreme is difficult so will be fz16 clear me if I am wrong please.
If you could wait only one month then it will be better to get it soon than waiting.
Go for TVS Apache 180ABS .For long rides it may hurt the palms a bit .

Reagarding rear seat height,

if you are not ok with CBZ extreme rear seats, then other options you mentioned also almost same in that case. Checkout Avenger for less rear seat height.

CB trigger rear seat height may be less i guess. Do test ride of this one.

There is nothing special in Suzuki Gixxer. It is just another naked bike with almost same engine spec of GS 150R with 5 gears only. It is not much appealing and ASS also not good as far as i know..though not sure about your area.(I own a GS 150R). Better to go for FZ than this.

Reg Apache 180, it is not good on sales in these days and for the ABS they asking too heavy price.
