Best Used Cars Under Rs.10 Lakhs To Boost Your Status!

Many of us participated in this thread (http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/fo...ty-luxury.html) where I questioned whether cars are just a luxury and some show off or a necessity and a part of our life. Like expected, the second option grabbed most votes and one of the common comment was that a car is nowadays a mix of both, where you always have an option to stretch on high-end model depending upon the size of your wallet. But ever thought, what if you can buy your favorite car under strictly packed budget, which looks as good as a new car and will definitely help to boost your status in society. It could be useful especially if you’re a senior executive of a growing firm and need to maintain your status to a level which of course reflects from the car you drive. The Automotive India points you towards a few such special cars which one or another surely lusts for. Let’s check ‘em out!

I believe even Ford's Ikon is great buy as used car.

Advantages - Great steering feel and ride quality. Not sure about pricing, but shouldn't be more than 3L.

Disadvantage - Spares are costly.

ilango[speed thirst] 23rd April 2010 09:34 AM

Lot of petrol ikon are for sale. You can get easily a good car for 1.6 to 1.8L range. Even i have 2 cars for reference .Also a laura for reference!

Hatches have good resale value. The best is swift diesel which have a high resale value

raj_5004 23rd April 2010 11:15 AM

@ RSM: i think here we are talking about much more expensive cars which can be had under 10 lakhs, if bought second hand.

IMHO, a ikon wont 'Boost your Status'!

my pick is the accord.

350Z 23rd April 2010 12:05 PM

Yes, Exactly. All used cars included have their original cost from Rs.10 Lakhs and above.

Hey 350Z great thread!! Out of the list i prefer Cedia , Civic and Laura because these are the cars i too considered even for my purchase!! Apart from that these cars will be almost like new state and would not have been used much so would be more reliable and will not give troubles in maintenance for some years!!

Rest all the cars are very difficult to get one in this price range , very rare! Either they must have been extensively used or must have suffered from an accident!! SO again maintenance might get tougher!!

So i stick with the 3 cars of my choice!!

And apart from this cant Lancer be added to the list , it was also once a status symbol car!!

ilango[speed thirst] 24th April 2010 09:04 AM

Who said , once!

After i got the lancy , people here open up there mouth , oh you got a lancer!! That is one fine car! some say Mitsubishi! that is great. Looks royal too.

Cabbie wala's praise its comfortableness , though all the suspension need to replaced!

350Z 26th April 2010 01:09 PM

I completely missed the new comments, anyways. Thanks cooldhaya! I’d agree with you on Lancer Cedia part, Like mentioned in review that it’s one of my all time favorite car, be it any variant, though the spirit was somewhat plain in comparison to rivals or even its own sports sibling but still this car remains my choice. After the cedia, The cars in my preffered category are Honda Civic, Hyundai Sonata, Merc C-Class. One could even afford a few years old E-Class in fairly good condition for Rs.20 Lakhs which doesn't sounds bad deal either.

Good collection! I would go for the civic or even cedia would be fine. Even skoda Octavia vrs would fit this budget I think.
