I bought my Ecosport on 22nd November and have done 3800 kms and totally love it.
Everything was going well, but 'unfortunately' one day I logged into the Ford Owners account and found that there is an update for sync available. I tried downloading it but never got the download link on my email. I mailed Ford support. They asked me to go to the nearest Ford service station i.e. Planet Ford, Bibvewadi.
They finally get to updating my vehicle on 18th December at 11:30 a.m. saying that it takes only an hour for the whole process. After almost 3 hours of no response I ask them what is going on? They tell that the file wasn't downloaded properly and they are trying again but end up getting USB error time and again. I leave the vehicle and ask them to inform me when it is done. In the evening I enquire, and get the response that, "sir, there was server problem". I ask them to deliver the vehicle as is so that I can go home. They tell me that they will talk to Ford tech and get some solution by Tuesday i.e. 20th dec.
On Tuesday they say that Ford has sent some update for their own program which they use to update sync, so he will contact me as soon as he is ready to update my vehicle. Now, today the SA comes and takes my car around 2:45 saying that he will get the work done and deliver car before my office gets over. At 7:30, he delivers the car to me saying that, "Sir, it cannot be fixed. Tomorrow, i will send your car's report to Ford and Sync module has broken and we'll have to replace it. It costs 40,000, obviously it won't cost you anything."
I dont get it.
Sync was working well before all this fiasco. My only complaint was that it was a little slow in reading the songs on my phone, also due the sheer large size of the files too. I was expecting it to get better after this update. But there were no hardware problems as such. Now their saying that sync module has to be replaced seems that their analysis that it is a hardware problem seems flawed to me. I think that since they are not able to sort the software issue hence they are trying to sort it by replacing hardware.
What should i do now?
P.S. I am going out of station after 26 for 3-4 weeks, so i wanted this to be fixed before that. But this now seems like a big problem. Also when i told them this and asked if i could get it replaced at place i am going to, they said No, saying thar since they are getting the module, only they can replace it. Then they said that they'll try their best to get the module before 25 which i think is highly improbable.
