Re: Color choice

In India maintaining dark color is a nightmare. I am having Carnelian Red Perl color for my City and really having pain to maintain it in top shape. Small scratch is also visible from miles.
Polishing and waxing is like routine work. So this the reason many Indian prefers lighter shades.

Re: Color choice

Because of the pain of maintaining other color.
List of all the cars that we have / had and their colors,
1) Alto : Pearl Silver
2) Wagon-R : Silky Silver
3) M800 : Silky Silver / Red
4) Civic : White
5) City : Bluish Silver
6) Beat 1 : Silver
7) Beat 2 : Grey
8) Linea : Flamenco Red
9) Sunny : Bronze Grey

Out of these 10 cars, you could see only 2 were in RED shade and all others were white / silver / grey.

From the past experience with Flamenco Red of Linea, my god it's such a pain to maintain that. Frequent waxing / detailing required to keep that color intact. Whereas on the other side we hardly do anything over a water wash for Civic / Wagon-R / Beat 1.

Re: Color choice

If one can spend lakhs of rupees for buying his favorite car, then he can also spend money on car body protection. He can professionally polish/wax or whatever he wants done in an automotive shop once in 2-3 months because they know cars more than you.

Professional detailing costs nothing less than 1000 INR (taking a bare minimum cost)
Detailing alternate month --> 6*1000=6000 INR annually.
This amount is equal to
- 2000km fuel charge (Diesel)
- 30~50% Insurance premium
- 1 General service cost
- 1 tyre cost
- blahblahblah

Though color choice is personal opinion / wish / liking, if one could save a considerable amount by choosing an alternate color, do you still think it is not a wise decision??

Re: Color choice

If one don't like white and silver color, then he will not buy that color. If he buys these colors keeping in mind the resale value of the car, then he is doing this against his mind. The discussion will never end. So the bottom line is do things what you like not what others doing.

Question here is not on the capability on spending. Penny saved is a penny earned.
And as you agreed that the discussion will never end it's individual's choice, let this useless thread be closed.

PS: I don't mind getting banned by moderators for such a comment, but I mean it.
Forum is now a days getting flooded with a lot of one-liner posts / thread which doesn't add any value.

The easily availability of loans on automobiles let us see the change in selling scenario where even today it takes lot of plannings for finance for lot many families to buy a four wheeler.Out of them how many would you find who would have that passion to buy the colour of their choice to keep it clean and maintained.
As an general prospective for a buyer, the common choice goes to the shades which requires lesser of maintainence along with resale value, agree or not but thats the fact that would remain. So the choices are more for silvers and whites compared to other darker and brighter shades selling.

One colour which people absolutely avoid is Black. Apart from maintenance effort, some people believe its bad omen.

Naturally Black cars have lowest resale values.

Yes. Conservative people won't prefer black even now.
The colour white ( and to some extent silver too) has gone into the nerves of Indians as a respectable colour.( just like white shirt and dhothi, white pyjama/kurta and white hair).

Otherwise maintaining white colour is also as difficult as that of black and other dark colours.

The gray car driver doesn't want to stand out. Gray doesn't need (or want) to be as flashy as silver, projecting more dignity, tradition and maturity. The driver of a gray car cares less about status and more about the status quo.
