Hi All,

I need to do some urgent homework on what all equipments are needed to open a simple water wash bay.

As I had mentioned on the other thread about an apartment's water wash opportunity, I am likely to get a similar one from another source. However the requirement is a bit different.

What they need on a daily basis:
1. Plain Water wash (only exteriors & no engine bay) and wipe it dry.
2. Clean door sill areas, clean door mats

What I think I can do:

Everyday Basis: Charged once in a month (approx 450)
1. Plain Water wash (only exteriors & no engine bay) and wipe it dry.
2. Clean door sill areas, clean door mats

Once in a week: Included in the monthly charge above
1. Plain Water wash (only exteriors & no engine bay) and wipe it dry.
2. Clean door sill areas, clean door mats
3. Dry Vacuum the floor and boot space

Once a month/ as per demand: Charged seperately (Approx. 1000)
  1. Offer a Car detailing service where cleaning is done using proper foam, then waxing is also done, basic interior cleaning, foam cleaning for seats and floor carpet and diesel wash for engine bay.

Also I can do the following parallely
  1. Repaint wheel caps, sell a few perfurmes etc
  2. Towing service to nearest garage in case of any breakdowns - charged very nominally
  3. Free jump starts, if battery is dead (only within the apartment premises)
  4. Set up a small Cleaning bay in the basement of the apartment, drive the cars to the wash bay, clean and park it back where ever it was

What equipments do I need?

My assumption is as below:
1. High pressure Water compressor with 10meter hose
2. Bulk quantity of MF cloth
3. Shampoo bottles - 1litre x 5bottles
4. Tyre polish - 5litres can
5. Air compressor - I have it.
6. Buffing machine - I have it

I need advise/suggestions on the following

1. Which brand car shampoo is VFM and should not damage/dull the paint on cars
2. Is the belt driven water pump reliable to wash 50 cars daily?
3. Where do we get these L angle, Split end type hoses for the compressor?
4. Compressor - Cost and brand
5. Is a 3HP water compressor enough to do this task?

General doubts:
1. Will washing car everyday result in fading of paint/ chipping?
2. How do we clean the MF cloth?
3. Can the MF cloth be reused only after drying?
4. Anything I am missing out in this whole text above?

More info:
If they accept my proposal, I will be starting the job as a single person doing everything till I find someone to assist me.

If they like my work, I can get access to another 50cars in the next month too. For that I will have to probably set up another unit in that block of the apartment.

Total cars to be washed before 8am everyday = 50
Work Timings - My choice is 8pm to 12pm or 4pm to 8am
Water is supplied by the apartments and is free
Electricity too would be supplied by the apartment, yet to discuss about the cost

Need your inputs and any shop reference where I can get a good quote for the equipments.

Regards,

Update:
After a lengthy discussion with the concerned person, I gave up this one too as the fee they agree on is too little. However my close friend has pitched in with a different quote and he is in talks with the apartment guys.

1. Which brand car shampoo is VFM and should not damage/dull the paint on cars.
You can go for ABRO or can use clinic plus shampoo (blue color). Clinic plus has no adverse affect on car paint.
2. Is the belt driven water pump reliable to wash 50 cars daily?
I don't think so. The bearings and the belt will be worn out soon
3. Where do we get these L angle, Split end type hoses for the compressor?
consult any car washer for this.
4. Compressor - Cost and brand
No Idea
5. Is a 3HP water compressor enough to do this task?
Yes, 3HP is sufficient

General doubts:
1. Will washing car everyday result in fading of paint/ chipping?
Water wash will not dull the paint but shampoo wash will surely. I know people who wash their car daily (but with only water)
2. How do we clean the MF cloth?
Soak it for few hours in ezee and then rinse properly with water. Use cotton dhoti instead of MF cloth.
3. Can the MF cloth be reused only after drying?
If you use the MF cloth without drying, the water soaked in it will cause problem
4. Anything I am missing out in this whole text above?
You can buy a electric blower to clean the interior and carpets.

BTW: For how much did you buy the buffing machine.

You are not the one for these types of job. Something better is waiting for you.

Thanks a lot Shantanu, I had paid about 2.5K for it, bought more than a year back. It has a velcro kind of material on top, you can fix sand paper or buffing pad to it and use it. It's not a Bosch/ Black&Dekker but better than the chinese ones.

Thanks a lot for the clear inputs on the water wash aspects. Also, I have forwarded the link to this page to my friend and he is still in talks with them.
