Friends,

It is probably the aura of the recently concluded Auto Expo 2016 that's why I am making a thread in advance for the 2018 Auto Expo. According to the organizers, on the concluding day of the 2016 Expo i.e 09th Feb-2016, the announcement for the 2018 Auto Expo too had been done. The venue has been kept the same and the start date is 07th Feb-2018. I know, it is too far but just keep it in mind as of now![:)]

Delhi Auto Expo 2018 is going to held in February, 8-11, 2018.
Are you sure? Long back, due to unmanageable circumstances, the venue shifted to Expo Mart, Greater Noida. Auto Expo's "Component Show" is still held in Pragati Maidan but the Auto Exhibition is held in Greater Noida. Also the link in OP mentions the same.

You are correct @Akash, I presume the Auto Components exibit will not have big crowds, so Pragati Maidan, but Auto Expo should be in Greater Noida.

Buddies,

The Auto Expo to be held in India next year i.e 2018 is likely to be low on excitement as many major Automobile brands are pulling out of the forthcoming event.

New Delhi: The Auto Expo next year will miss cars from the stable of Audi, Volkswagen, General Motors and Skoda as the companies have decided to pull out of the event over concerns around return on investments (RoIs) and effectiveness of participation. Also expected to miss the action are Nissan, Royal Enfield, Bajaj Auto and Ford, though the companies are still weighing their options.

Somehow I feel Autoexpo has lost its charm after shifting to Noida, It used to be wonderful in Pragati Maidan as I visited couple of times. Its really painful to all with the kind of traffic by road/metro train to reach Noida and also its one more pain taking that cramp shuttle service to the halls and its really crowded in those halls and you hardly able to see anything clearly with crowd interested in taking photographs of self in front of those cars !! last expo was a real mess up there. Probably venue must be the reason for those companies pulling out of the show and I seriously think this time it would be much lower crowd when such brands are not participating. Hope show organizers will rethink of venue

More companies pull out of Auto Expo 2018,claim costs prohibitively high and returns low.

A total of 32 car and bike making companies including big names such as Bajaj Auto, Jaguar Land Rover, Volkswagen, Harley Davidson, Ford, Ashok Leyland and Nissan will not be participating in the event that starts on February 8, 2018.

A back of the envelope calculation shows a revenue loss of minimum of Rs 320 crore considering minimum average spend of Rs 10 crore by each brand.

Sad to read this. Many companies giving a miss over various reasons, most commonly claimed too expensive stalls and early reveal of weapons.

I am guessing it to be a lack-luster event this time around. However, due to less participants, a good thing might be that, we can spend more time with our staple brands. Lesser brands to me means better pictures, more pictures and more time with each available product. Looking forward to the event with same enthusiasm and excitement. Lets see what the new participants have to offer.

What are the plans of other TAIgers?
