The Guide To Effectively Perform a Forum Search

The default forum integrated search feature isn’t very accurate and this has been a common issue of concern. To overcome this, we have recently introduced better functionality that significantly helps to improve the search and offer precise results for any search term. Please follow this pictorial explanation to make best out of it.

• Option 1: Quick Search

The name itself says, use this search feature to quickly find out a specific post or a thread using a set of key words. For Example: Searching for “Mahindra Scorpio Review” will list all the threads with title Mahindra Scorpio review. On the other hand, searching for “Mahindra Scorpio*” (Note: Use * for wildcard) will list out all the threads that have a reference to Mahindra Scorpio. Such as Mahindra Scorpio issues, Mahindra Scorpio features etc. However, this example has been demonstrated assuming that you are searching for “Threads” not “Posts” using radio button selector and have already ticked the “Search Titles Only” checkbox (recommended).

• Option 2: Advanced Search

Hit search button on the top and select “Advanced Search” link on bottom of the popup menu. This will redirect to a comprehensive search page where you can perform a thorough search using advanced filter options such as find threads by number of replies or from particular members or forum sections. Just like Quick Search option, advanced search will also accept a set of key words. Please remember that neither of the in-built forum search feature accepts less than 3 characters and some common terms like “car” or “bike” will be omitted.

• Option 3: Built-in Google Search

The easiest and most relevant search function available. New built-in Google Search feature of our forum ensures that you can simply search entire website without the hassle of browsing through Google now and then. Click “Search” link on the top and enter your query in the second search box which has a Google watermark. Hit “Go” and the appropriate results will be displayed in the forum itself. The best part is there is no particular limit of keywords here.

The individual forum sections or threads can be searched using the Search Menu on top right corner.
