Atrocious pricing of so called "Genuine Acessories"
I was haggling with a Hyundai dealer today, and in the process, found out that:
-> Rear spoiler for the i10 costs Rs 9500
While the same costs Rs 3000 at a reputed store outside!
-> A Pioneer HU with USB connectivity and 2RCA Pre-outs costs Rs 8500
While the same costs Rs 6500 at a reputed store outside!
-> Sun Film 3M costs Rs 2500, and is available only in color black, while -
the same costs Rs 1800 at a reputed store outside!
I am sure many people fall for all this. I saw an i10 awaiting delivery with some such fittings.
This is really criminal, and I wonder why Hyundai/the dealers need to resort to such moves.

Hyundai is not alone, most of the Genuine accessories will be costly. Check similar thread - http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/fo...ced-worth.html
This is one of the way dealers/manufacturers make money. Specially in small cities where you don't have much outside option, its a big thing for dealers.

simple. its just a method for earning quick bucks.i have even seen some things outside which are of the same quality, same brand and literally no difference at all for almost half the price of what is sold at the delearships.

have you ordered tea from Taj & from a roadside tea shop?
both serve tea but Taj's tea is 10 times more expensive. apply the same logic here.

Well the tea logic cant be applied . At the end its not just tea.
Taj tea is prepared with good water , sugar , tea dust
But in road side tea , we can expect same purity,
But here its just the same product.
Suppose they sell pioneer at mrp , and same product we get less than mrp.
Most people blindly follow what a company sales executive say.
For each and every reason they sat , company say this that , warrenty etc.
Some times the sales executive say to fix from particular shop.
they do the same ,
Even if they question about high price here , they say mr .x have said to fix good products for your car and i do the same and good products are priced higher.
they simply accept.
Idiotic people , cant they use there brain
After they fix , that good man mr.x comes smiling for his share!

This is exactly the reason why I'm getting my ICE, Sun Film, Windscreen Lamination and rear spoiler fitted outside (at EVO).

I heard from someone that a dealer's main income comes from A.S.S., spare parts and accessories. And there are many people who do insist on installing these accessories at the dealer itself, so in general it works for them.

Absolutely, their main source is through accessories and spare parts business and so they would sell in more amount then things available outside as in general calculation dealers have more overhead expense sourced on their business compared to other accessory shops in local market so the difference.

Arkin, there are certain accessories that are VFM. Try getting scuff plates which costs around 600 rs which looks very beautiful on i10. I will post the pics this evening. Other accessories are very expensive,

Yes this is really bad from all dealers! Many people fall for them as the dealer will frighten them saying warranty will be void if done outside!
