Please share the below information:
- Make and model of the music system
- Make and Model of your remote
Initial Troubleshooting:
- Test from a smartphone that has an IR blaster. If it works, then your remote has gone kaput. Otherwise there may be a problem with the head unit itself.

Re: Car remote
Are you referring to music system remote or car's lock-unlock remote? In the first case, answer the points mentioned by Prabhagar and in the second case, tell us the make and model of car, age and brand of remote locking system.

Take it to any car accessories guy. He may say replace entire system for 3500 (Where you will get 2 new remotes) . If not, just pay 1500 -2000 for one remote.
