Re: Tyre upgrade

Could you add more information on car model/variant. Also mention that it has steel/alloy rims. Looking at current tyre specification, I assume you have Honda City top variant.

Considering you car has alloys with size 6J or 6.5J; in this case you can upgrade to 195 width. Normally car are tested for stability to 2 size upgrade, if you car belongs to a foreign brand [ex: Honda, Hyundai, Ford etc] and similar model is available for European or other Asian countries then the same car is launched with low profile wide tyres.

I have upgraded my i20 from stock 185 to 205 with no issues and superb grip.

Since you are trying to upgrade 175/65R15 to 195/60R15 then this upgrade is normal with side wall increase from 114mm to 117mm which is 3mm more from existing [see on scale you will be hardly able to make a difference].

According to me 195/60R15 is perfect upgrade. Where you can go for Michelin XM2, Yokohama S drive.

For 205/50R16, side wall changes drastically. And if you are only driving on highway then go for it. But such size will be only available in Yokohama. Low profile tyres are preferred with stiff suspension for precise driving on race track. Since the track road is super flat and good built quality, that is the reason why American and European car comes with low profile tyres, for there country, due to quality roads in even in CITY.

My Suggestion: 195/60R15 Michelin Energy XM2
