Cigarette Lighter Socket Alternatives

I have an old cigarette lighter input in my car, near the gear stick. Since I am a non-smoker it doesn't make sense to replace it with a new cigarette lighter unit. So please suggest some alternatives for me. I had thought of a dial type voltmeter to see the battery condition. Any other ideas, please?

One very common use for that port is using an Air Ioniser. They come very cheap (<500) and have brought about an immense change in my car. No more bad smell and the AC smells very fresh.
Also, they look very cool

You may use it as a port for the portable mobile charger. I am also using it for the same purpose in my Esteem.

You may consider buying a mobile charger which works with all phones, so that even the people who get into your car will be grateful. You may also buy a coffee warmer or a bluetooth handsfree unit.
