I recently came across this platform: CarIQ: Making Cars Smarter
The website lists these feature:
Critical alerts
Technical problems with your car
Service alerts
Battery monitor and health
'Headlight On' warning
Location information
Statistics sharing on Facebook and Twitter
Social badges for driver, car condition, etc.
Towing alerts
Crash alert
Over-speeding alerts
Rash driving identification
Personalized tips for driving (based on your driving pattern)
Fuel economy
Download Entire car driving data

They are building a connected car platform right here in India.
Their device is available on a pre-order basis as of now but i cant wait to try it out.
I wanted to know if anyone has tried any similar sort of thing?

It seems to me like a lot of exaggeration. This might be useful for a parent wanting to track the car being driven by the children or drivers. The other thing is that it could put a drain on the battery for a car that remains unused for a period of time that might ruin it. I doubt that it does most of what they have claimed. If the ecu detects a component failure it will switch on the check engine light. The ecu cannot monitor non electronic components which are far more prone to fail.
