How about installing high-security registration plates? You'll anyway have to switch to them after sometime. Not sure about Bangalore but they're already being installed on existing cars in Delhi. Got the number plates installed this weekend, I did it in a shop near shell petrol pump in ITPL Main Rd, near HP Office (Just before Phoenix Mall)
Paid Rs250/-, pretty fast aswell, took close to 30mins.

@350z, will check abt the high security plates next time.

The shop name is car beats near ICICI Bank ATM
