Welcome to TAI!

If you want to upgrade to 14 inch alloy wheels, you will need to use R14 tyres too. The R13s won't fit.

When upsizing tyres, you must make sure that the overall diameter of the wheel (rim+tyre) remains the same to prevent speedometer and odometer errors.

I would recommend 175/60 R14 tyres, which will only give 1.47% error compared to the stock wheel size on the WagonR. Source: Tyre Size Calculator/Tire Plus Sizing Calculator - Tyre Dimensions for Plus Sizing

I have a similar query here. Currently my WagonR Lxi is shod with 145/80 R13 tyres. I feel it is terribly under tyred. So, I'm planning on moving to 165/65 R13 or 165/70 R13. I would like to stick to R13 rim size, but will consider an alloy rim instead of stock steel rims.
Could someone tell me if my decision is wise to stick with rim size and upgrade is recommended?

Yes, 145 section tyres are very narrow for WagonR. I would say go for 14" alloys instead of 13" and get 155 section tyres of the same spec as the Vxi. It would keep your warranty intact.

If you wish to stick to 13", go for 165/70R13 as it gives the least error and it would be fine if you stay with the steel rims only. My personal choice would be 165/70R13 on stock steel/alloy wheels as it gives more road contact area (wider tyre) than the Vxi tyre.

Thanks a lot ice_wise for the suggestion.
I could find only Apollo Amazer XL tyres with 165/70 R13 specs. Are these good for highways? I'm fine to compromise on tyre noise, but needed this upgrade mainly for the grip level an upsize offers.

I have heard that Apollo tyres are poor quality, noisy and don't last long. I would say go for some other size where you can find a variety of brands.

165/65 would give more than 2% error and is not advisable. Go for WagonR stock size (14") or go for 155 section on stock rims, what say?

Thanks again for your quick response ice_wise. I will checkout the tyres in 155 section on 14" steel rims. This will make sure that I invest only on tyres, where as steel rims will not cost me a bomb.

Keep in mind that you will be upgrading both the rim and tire sizes simultaneously.

The latest model VXI have 14" wheels, up size accordingly as mentioned in website, to avoid wheel well touching issues.

Tyre Size & Type (Radial Tubeless) 155/65R14 (VXi AGS, VXi), 145/80R 13 (LXi) (copied from webpage)

Yes, I would like to upgrade both Rim and Tyres.

Currently I am using the default stock rim and tyres,
I like to change it to 14" Alloy with a little wider tyres.

My doubt is there any problems with upsized = 175/60-R14
Like body scratches or any wheel arch problems?

Please note My WagonR is 2008 vxi model. Not latest type (k-series).
So, is there any problems with 14" alloy wheels? like body scratches or any wheel arch problems?
