I know after reading my post, there shall be adverse reactions but in my opinion and in lots off experts opinion all after market HID lights for car should be banned. only factory fitted HID lamps should be allowed.
There are no particular HID bulbs available in the market which conform to the standards of OEM
car manufacturers and legal parameters of India. That's why you have HID lights banned in Bangalore, chandigarh among other cities in India
The HID lamps were invented for specialized vehicles which needed extra bright lights such as for Police cars, Coast Guards and other specialized jobs but never for headlights but slowly they made their way into automotive headlights. The high end cars which you see have HID lights factory fitted are very different from the after market products available. The market has become a battle ground to see which one has the brighter and bluish lights. Moreover these lamps are being fitted into cars which were never meant to have these HID lamps installed in them
The amount of accidents which HID lights cause is increasing day by day. In Europe the car manufacturers introduced HID lights but to the glare was kept at the standard level so as to increase the drivers vision of the road. moreover HID lights are a total failure in heavy and dense fog, reason being the white light cannot pierce the white fog making the driver blind. In India very few drivers drive with dippers on and usually drive at full beam, which results in these HID lights giving extra glare to the oncoming traffic
There is another catch, these HID lamps are intended to be installed with a correct diagnostic tool which guides the installer to the correct alignment of the bulbs so that they produce an arc of light which is focused on the road and not on the incoming traffic. How many garages in India have these diagnostic tools, practically none!. more often than not , you shall see the incorrect positioning of the bulbs, they shall be more veered to the right or more to the left, the reason? They are installed in the cars which were not intended to have HID lamps. The cars specially the bigger SUV's were intended to have these lights and never the hatchbacks or sedans which you have in India
The standard halogen lamps do much better job than HID lights and in my opinion spending money on HID light is total waste of money and effort
