| Re: HID Xenons Headlamps - Discussions and Queries hello naveen i'm going to do retrofit with morimoto stageiii 4.1 projectors.I am using apollo shrouds.I am using CCFL white on the front of the shroud and the blue one inside the shroud as a second one just for looks. The shroud covers the entire projector setup. The blue one is very less visible as the light comes only through the hole of the shroud.i will attach zip file the foto of the shrouds and the projectors.
Sorry for the late response as i didnt activated notification of the thread.
Naveen,One more help i need.can you assist me how to remove the front headlight of new wagonR(blue boy).
I think the bumper should be removed. If you help me i will do it myself.
Even though i am new to retrofit,i can do it myself. The only hurdle is to remove the headlight housing from the hood. Quote:

I can easily notice the difference. Let me know your plans | |

| Re: HID Xenons Headlamps - Discussions and Queries Hi tanujthukral,It depends on the type of HID bulb you are using. There are different types of bulbs in HIDs D1S,D2S,D2R and rebased HIDs for h1,h4 etc
Philips mainly provide D1S,D2S and D2R
There are specific serial numbers as well for the bulbs
85122,85122+(+ may not be available in india) etc.You can check this with lighting philips india website.
I never saw Philips providing any rebased bulbs. If you are seeing philips rebased bulbs.Sometime it might be fully duplicate.Otherwise the capsule took from the original D2S bulbs and rebased to a H1 or some other holders.
If you are using cheap ebay projectors i am not sure whether any bulbs fit properly in it or not.
If the ballest is not good,it will very much affect your bulb output as well as bulb life span.
PS:-I am not a dealer.Got the knowledge through frequent internet search.i can help you with in my limits.

Thanks. | |

cheers | Thanks ajayraj for all the info! I got my projectors from a Dealer in Karol Bagh. It was from a brand called Bi-Xenon or Bi-Xenos (I don't remember it correctly.) It surely has a HID bulb in it, as I literally asked him to dismantle the projector and show it to me. I am planning to get the bulbs replaced for better visibility. So I would really appreciate your advise over which brand to choose. Alternatively, I asked the same dealer if only the HID can be used and the projectors removed. He said not on the same bulbs, the bulbs need to be replaced. I am yet waiting to either get the bulbs replaced or the projectors removed.
Thanks. |

Thanks. | As i told i cant assure you the bulb size of chines ones like bixenos, seven colours etc.
If you are buying these, try to buy another set of spare bulbs and keep it safe.As there a good chance for you not to get these bulbs in future.I prefer you to buy philips or osram HIDs.But you should know that these are D2S or D2R(D2R is not for projectors but for reflector setups) which may or may not be compatible with your projectors. So i recommend you to measure
1)The length and width of the bulb
2) The type of base of the bulb used in ur projector
3)Compare this with other bulbs.
P N:Poor projectors give worst focus and make you life miserable than halogens in night driving.
chinese projectors and bulbs cannot be trusted fully. Some exception are there.
I think naveen can help you out in this as he started using HID very long time. |

Sure! Would want to get them replaced! What would be the cost of Philip's HID? The Dealer I mentioned earlier is giving Philip's HID bulbs for INR 3200 (for 700 against my projectors). He says the blaster and the wiring will remain the same. Also, should I insist him to let the angel eyes fixed as a friend told me that the angel eyes turn black with time if exposed directly to HID's? Should I go in for this deal? Or should I still prefer the bulbs being replaced within the projectors? They can be replaced with Philips but I will have to shell out another 2500 bucks. No buy back or projectors then!
Thanks for all your help! |

Thanks for all your help! | can you tell me the type of bulb u r planning to buy and also the serial number as i told.It is very important.ask and see the bulbs and compare it with the philips website.
You have to ask the professionals like ilango or someone in TAI about it..But i can assure you philips is one of the performing and expensive one in the industry. The most important thing about HID is it dissipates a lot of UV rays.So a good quality HID will have a good quality UV protection glass on the outside.
NEVER BUY A HID THAT CONTAINS ONLY 1 GLASS.There should be a globe which contains some salts and also an outer glass which blocks UV rays and maintain the temperature of the bulb.Cheap bulbs have cheaper electrodes and impure salts which will drastically increase the temperature and less life span. This ultimately harms the projectors as well as headlight lens.
There might be Philips re-based bulbs which are not actually philips. So keep this it mind. But some rebased ons are of good quality.
The main reason for angel eyes colour change due to the quality of adhesive used to fix it.When HIDs are burned the temperature inside and around will raise insignificantly(but less heat than a halogen generates). So if the adhesive is not of good quality you can come up with it.So blaming HIDs on it is of no use. There are other methods which you can fix the angel rings into the projectors. You can have a check of it in the HIDplanet.com forum.
And the thing you are saying "blaster" is "ballest".Try to change when asking someone which a dealer may fell u have less knowledge on it and can be utilised.
Above all,i practically do not prefer cheap chinese projectors which is a waste of money on long run.i prefer for retrofit projectors which are highly expensive from 13500INR and above. But you will feel worth of every penny you shell in these projectors. |

Once removed, just push the headlight assembly out after disconnecting all the wires. You will need to remove the glass unit to fix the projectors right? |

I have the things for retrofit. So i can better do it myself once i am successful in removing the bumper.
Do you know how to remove it?
I am doing a side emitting DRL(12V) as well.I need an extra wiring as i am using 2 CCFL in a single projector in the parklight wires. So the stock wire cant hold the extra power of DRL as it is 12V.can you tell me what gauge wire i need to use? |

I saw this when the mechanic removed while installing projector headlights. You can easily bolt it on once you are done fitting the headlights. The mechanic did this in a flash. So guess it should be easy.
Am not sure what gauge wire you need to use. For my drl's, I had the wire that came along with the set. This is connected to the parking lamps. In total I have three lights in the front for park.
1) CCFL
2) CCFL tube running along the headlight (That's included in the headlight assembly)
3) DRL's
Some pics. Old pics so DRL's here. |

I will have a try on the bumper. If not i will take the car to the workshop to take off the bumper and i will do the retro myself. |

Since I got them as a set I didnt bother to check whether they sell these separately. Now, am in need of a CCFL. One of the CCFL(angel eye) is not working. Is it possible to get one like mine as shown in the pic? Also not planning a DIY since I dont want to take a risk. |
