I dont know if you mistook that as the amount of the clutch or your surprised at the 40,000 km clutch change
Well anyways if its the clutch change ,usually enthusiastic drivers(also learner drivers) eat up the clutch(brake pads also). In some cases the clutch can be pushed & used for another 10,000 or if really crazy another 20,000 km more ,but that would give an unsatisfying driving experience. Introducing clutch with throttle means clutch slipping & no full power on the road, not to mention terribly hard & annoying clutch pedal depth.
As for financial point of view lets say with petrol prices & basic service it works out to 8 rupees per km. So 8 X 10,000km = 80,000 or 8 X 20,000km = 1,60,000!
So spending around 10,000 rupees(for the SX4) & enjoying the drive is a small price to pay
.Just think of the number of times one uses the clutch in under a km of driving!
As for my fast & furious ways(or days maybe)
I "used" to do alot of jack rabbit starts hence my clutch had no way of getting past 35000 km,actually should have been changed under 30,000 km,i just nursed it that far.I had alot of Motorsport influence around me,but i am calmer now but was never rash in traffic though.
But ya the current clutch seems to be fine but mite change it at 45,000 km into its life.
PS- when looking to buy a car i have a habit of asking clutch price & also price of side mirror.I know way OT
