The History of TAI

  • Year: November, 2008

The Automotive India was founded on November 25th, 2008 by Vibhor Tyagi. The concept of forums always fascinated him for the fact that they provide a far broader scope to connect with people carrying similar passion. However, the insufficient amount of funds and technical skills required for a forum led him to start a blog on blogger with domain ‘vibhor-theautomotive.blogspot.com’. Luckily, soon on 25th November, 2008 he stumbled upon a website to create a free forum and it brought an everlasting revolution to his life. The forum was fully setup on the day itself by late night and titled as ‘The Automotive India’. The name ‘India’ was now added to show the focus towards automobile sector of our country. This made the name complete and more meaningful. Also, as we describe – The: Particularly, Automotive: Related to automobiles, India: For the Indians and by the Indians. Eventually, we collected a fair amount of membership base and rather formed it more as an E-Family who was always together 24/7/365.

Now as the time went on, the forum was more than four months old and began to gain some popularity. It was time for us to get a proper tagline, which was ultimately picked as “Fuel for Petrol Heads” from the suggestions given by all active members. Yet another month passed and The Automotive India registered one of its kind achievements in its history. We became the first ever Indian automobile website to celebrate a Road Safety week online. On this occasion, the members took an oath to drive safely and forum’s looks were altered to suit the event; interesting quizzes/contests were put up, messages and E-Mails about road safety were dispatched to all etc. and in fact, we were specially featured on a prominent national auto blog too.

  • Year: From 2009 – 2010

The August 2009 had been one of the most significant months in The Automotive India’s journey because now we realized that a free-forum is not the most suitable to have and a shift to premium platform is extremely required, however it is important to note that, for this to happen, we will have to sacrifice all the data (In terms of Threads, Posts, Registered Members etc.). A lot of thought-process went behind to make this move and research to learn whether it would be feasible enough or not. Finally, we decided to make that huge shift loosing thousands of posts and over hundreds of registered members. The new forum was now set-up with high quality vBulletin Software and an efficient server, located in state-of-the-art data center of United States. Everything started afresh with scratch; this was a rebirth of TAI, usually known as NGTAI, abbreviated for New Generation of The Automotive India.

NGTAI progressed at a rocketing pace with great amount of healthy discussions across forum. On 25th November 2009, TAI celebrated its first anniversary and in spite of facing a huge loss due to transfer, the spirit of all members was truly remarkable. Next year on same day, TAI celebrated its second anniversary and it was now bigger than ever. So much, that our server answered its capabilities and bandwidth was being vanished away in a flick like a litre of Petrol in V12 engine, we decided to provide The Automotive India its own justified share on a dedicated machine, that too with latest configuration. And the story wasn’t yet over, after long demand of members, The Automotive India Stickers were released, add to that an all new website cover page that was soon replaced by all new website layout in 2011 along with brand new logo.
